Over the last few months I have been playing FM Live deciding for myself if it was worth the money. I am currently in my third season with my team in the gameworld Cantona. I joined Cantona in the hope of finding a gameworld that was fairly full and wasnt brand new. I'll write what I think is good about the game and what I think is not so good. This is part one.

Starting the game

For new players coming into the game the introduction is certainly good and takes you through each step you need to get your team up and running and playing matches. It will teach you the concepts of the game and how to do things but most of the stuff you do in the game you find out by playing around. At the moment there really isnt that much you can change about your team, there is only the names etc, pitch size, colour scheme and stadium and I think this around needs work a bit. It depends however how SI are playing this as surely a manager would not build stadiums so its more owning your own club as you cant get fire so some ideas.

New club ideas

Merchandise is a big factor in football, Manchester United will tie up deals with Asian companies to sell their merchandise there because its in huge demand so how about some features here. They can tie in nicely with the daily income function of the game.

Club sponsorship is another area that could improve team financies, pretty much every team in the world has a sponsor and also there is kit makers, I think these should come into the game as well.

Add shops etc to add around the stadium just like in ultimate soccer manager to also change the dynamic of the clubs financies.

All of this stuff adds to the lifespan of the game as reaching the heights of maxing out everything will take forever when you think you add skills to the equation as well!

Player contracts

I hate how player contracts are dealt with in FM Live, I understand why its done but I really really do hate it. I would love more detail or just normal FM contracts but I'll be honest I dont know how it will work. Also with regards to contracts, the player wages in the game are stupid and its because of these contracts. Big name players end up having their wages inflated to stupid levels and its crazy.

This is an appeal to SI, sort out this part of the game, completely change it, reinvent it but just do something!

Skills

I like the skills part of the game, it is like any other MMO in that its a boring concept but has to be implemented to make the game work, I would however like more in this area. Im sure SI will do this as they add new features but it has to be updated as players reach the heights of all 5 star ratings.

Feedback

This is a complete waste of time but I guess one of those at SI thought feedback had to be part of the game. The problem I think is I can't be arsed to give feedback unless the other user was really helpful and I think others are the same. Then there are the kids who hate losing and give you bad feedback because you didn't talk to them in chat as they spammed it with useless crap.

Achievements

For me this is the most pointless rubbish in the game. They do not give bragging rights they just waste my time even writing about it! The feature is not a feature its a static pile of rubbish. I really hope SI do something with this part of the game its so pointless.

Favourite clips

Superb feature for this kind of game. Save your favourite game moments and play them back as and when you want. Easy to use and a very nice feature indeed.
