Sports Interactive have released some details on the new features in the latest version of FM, Football manager 2009! From the information that has been released we have put together a list of the new features announced.

Match Engine – FM2009 will finally be getting a 3D with the help from SEGA's virtual soccer team. Screenshots and videos have been released showing how it works. Users will have the option to run matches in the normal 2D mode.
Transfers - The transfers part of the game has been completely re-written to make it more realistic and to incorporate short lists more.
Interface - Users can now play the game in wide screen and the interface has been improved to help users navigate.
Finances - The financies in the game have been improved to more reflect the happening in the real world.
Player database - The player database now contains over 350,000 players thanks to the many researchers.
Competitions - All of the competitions have been updated to reflect real world data.
Board Confidence - The board confidence area of the game has been improved and bugs fixed. You can now view the clubs harmony rating and stature rating.
Gender - Now we have female referee's we now have female players in Football manager. Skins have been updated to reflect this option.
Training - Training has been improved and features the new gameplayer feature of players have moves to focus on. Make Ronaldo train more stepovers or if you really want make Terry play like a Brazilian.
Media improvements – The media aspsect of the game has been greatly improved with press conferences enabling you to build up relationships with local or national reports. Comments made can be used later so beware what you respond with!
Assistant managers - Assistant managers now have more of a role within the game, you can get their opinion on things while the match is playing, such as player confidence, team blend and other things.
